I have a Photosmart 2610xi as my default printer on my HP Pavilion, USB connection, network printer. I came across this several years previously, is not something new to Apple and scanners. If you upgrade until the driver gets approved, the scanner part will not work. Wait that the pilot is approved before installing the upgrade to Yosemite. It has been a problem for a while, whenever the operating system is updated. In the past, Apple must approve the driver for the scanner, before the new operating system can interact. But when I went to download Yosemite, new Apple operating system, I got a message saying that the connection of Power PC with my scanner no longer works. I use a MacBook Pro, and I have a Scanjet 3970 is fine.
